Hike to Red Rocks
Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park is located by the suburbs of Lake Forest and El Toro. It is a well shaded trail that leads to the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. If you've driven on the Santiago Canyon Road, then you have probably seen what I am talking about. Of particular geological interest is the 100-foot sandstone walls carved by wind and rain into a blazing red sculpture.
90% of the park burned in the Santiago Fire of 2007, the land is in the recovery process. Please respect that process by staying on marked trails and following park rules.
For more info visit the park's website.

We must take extreme caution hiking down this narrow passage on a mountain ridge. There is loose gravel and rocks. Make sure you step firmly so you don't fall down on the hiker in front of you or at the bottom of the canyon. There are radical changes in elevation, so make sure you keep your rhythm.
