Enjoy the Chinese New Year Celebrations with the Chinatown Golden Dragon Parade!
This is one day when Chinatown really comes to life! Street vendors decorate the sidewalks, firecrackers attract curious crowds, etc...a cheerful way to spend a day!
I recommend you park at any Metro station parking lots and ride one of two stops to Chinatown. For more info on Metro Stations and More click here.

Chinese Chamber of Commerce:
"In celebrating over one hundred years of tradition, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles presents the 2008 Golden Dragon Parade. With over 110,000 individuals lining the parade route and thousands viewing the telecast each year, this colorful celebration along North Broadway in Chinatown has become the premiere cultural event in the Southern California Asian-American Community.
Since the mid-1980’s, the Golden Dragon Parade has expanded to include almost two dozen floats, multiple marching bands, government officials, various dignitaries, entertainers, local business leaders and cultural groups. The parade’s theme emphasizes ethnic diversity, Chinese Culture and exposure to Chinese-American businesses. The parade continues to be a rich and diverse experience for Angelenos of all ages and ethnicities."
A no-host event is scheduled to let members enjoy of the activity at their own pace. We don't get together as a group to chat or eat. You may RSVP for it to let other members know that you'll be there. Hugo may not attend.
I was going to add some photos I took but I am having issues with Adobe Flash. Sorry folks. Hugo, if you would like to see and post any of my photos, I can email them to you.
Cheers,
Bill Pardue
