Reminders from MIKE
Mt. Baldy Hikers...This Saturday we are going to summit a 10,000 foot mountain, the tallest in Los Angeles area. (Luckily we are starting at the 7,800 foot level, HA!) We are glad to see so many are up to the challenge and we look forward to seeing you this Saturday!
Meeting time is 7:45am, please be prompt so we can get up to the top while it's still coolest. We will be leaving the Walmart parking lot at 8:15. If you're late you can still catch up with us so I recommend all of you print out this map to get you from the Walmart to the Ski lift: Click here to find the ski lift on the map.
Most of you are aware it has been a little hot lately and we want to make sure we have a safe hike for everybody. Please carry a backpack so you will have enough water. Hydrate yourself when you wake up and on the drive to Walmart. If you weigh around 100 lbs. than 32oz/1liter will just be enough to begin the hike. If you weigh more please do the math and bring the appropriate amount. The best part of the hike is having a little victory snack at the top so bring something to enjoy at the top. Bring a little money too as we will stop at the ski lodge for a beer/coke (they serve food too) before we take the ski lift back down to our cars.
Any questions you can also call Mike @[masked]

MandarinFriends hao,
Are you new to LA? Well, this should be on your agenda! And if you are a local, then you should really do this hike. Mt. Baldy is probably the most photographed snow capped mountain seen on Hollywood postcards! Let Jay, a 4-time LA-marathon enthusiast, lead the way up to the best view of the LA Basin!
Join us to hike to the top of Mount Baldy. Enjoy the magnificent views as we practice our Mandarin on the 2,200 ft climb. We will begin by taking the Mt. Baldy Ski lift for the first leg of our adventure. After, departing the ski lift we will take a 3.2 mile hike to the summit of Mt. Baldy. There are breathtaking views of both the Los Angeles Basin and the Mojave Desert along the hike. Upon reaching the summit, we will stop for a break to relax and take pictures before making the return hike. After completing the return hike we will relax and have lunch at the Mount Baldy Top of the Notch Restaurant before taking the ski lift back down to our cars. Mount Baldy is the highest mountain in the San Gabriel Mountain range and the third highest mountain in Southern California. The trail will be closing soon due to snowfall so please don’t miss this opportunity.

We have no experience hiking to Mt. Baldy with a dog. It looks like it would not be suitable. Also, they might not be allowed on the sky lift.
Just a reminder...the reason its called Mt Baldy is that there are no trees on the top. So, if there is a clear sky that day, be ready for a LOT of sun.
Hey all.....this is a truely unique, can't miss experience that is in our own backyard. I've done this hike several times and I guarantee you're going to enjoy it.
